Our team culture encourages innovation, we care about your professional development, and you will be working with an elite and motivated team of professionals. **About the Role** - The STDC Horticultural Team takes pride in delivering outstanding parks, streetscape and horticultural services to the South Taranaki district ensuring our residents and visitors enjoy a well-managed and maintained environment. We are looking for a physically fit, motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Team Leader to join the team. This role is responsible for leading a team to assist with the ongoing development and enhancement of the district's parks' horticultural assets ensuring they are properly developed and maintained in an efficient manner and to an agreed level of service. This is a satisfying, challenging and rewarding role and could be the next step in your perfect career path if you have, a passion for plants, love learning and enjoy working in the outdoors. **Do you have what it takes? - **This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it from responding to CRMs relating to horticultural matters as referred by the Parks Curator and Contact Centre, providing guidance and managing contractors that provide services to the Horticultural Services Unit and supervising minor upgrades, landscaping and construction projects in parks, reserves and open spaces throughout the district. This role will also ensure the King Edward Park Nursery is well maintained, and necessary plants are being grown and implement the designs and development plans prepared by the Parks Curator, including procurement of materials and plants. **About You** - You are a talented team player with a Diploma in horticulture or other relevant discipline with a minimum of four years' experience in a similar role and proven experience with operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and machinery. An excellent knowledge of plants and the principles of landscape design, a "can-do" attitude and the ability to connect and engage with your team and build new relationships is essential. Your communication skills will be of a high calibre and you will enjoy taking on new challenges and drawing on your technical expertise to achieve successful outcomes. Local government and public sector knowledge is beneficial as is a traffic management qualification. You will need to demonstrate a high standard of personal fitness and health as this is a physical role.
