**About this role**:
As the Building Quality Manager, you'll be the driving force behind leading and managing the Building Quality Team to ensure construction quality across all stages of development—from planning and materials sourcing to onsite execution and final inspections. You'll work closely with your direct reports to ensure we are delivering the full range of building regulatory services which supports the successful construction of homes and buildings and the development of land within the district.

**What I do?**

As Building Quality Manager, you'll lead a dedicated team to ensure building services are delivered in line with the Building Act and meet Building Consent Authority accreditation standards. You'll work collaboratively with team leaders to create a positive, high-performing culture, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to meet both organisational goals and customer expectations. You'll be responsible for monitoring performance, ensuring compliance with legislation, and reporting on outcomes.

As the Council's expert on Building Quality, you'll provide strategic advice, engage with industry stakeholders, and drive best practice across the sector. You'll also support the Development Support Team in delivering efficient, cost-effective services. A strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement will help enhance systems and processes, increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve customer experience. You'll manage budgets, oversee procurement and contracts, and ensure all work aligns with wider organisational objectives,

**What I bring?**

You will bring a minimum of five years' experience in building control or a related role, with a strong leadership and technical background. Proven ability to effectively lead, support and develop a team is essential. We require you to have a National Diploma in Building Control Surveying (Level 5) or equivalent.

You must possess extensive knowledge of the Local Government Act and the Resource Management Act, along with practical experience in managing financial budgets.An understanding of, or a desire to learn about, te ao Māori and tikanga is important. We also value those who have knowledge of, or are willing to gain an appreciation for, te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana.
