Be part of a team supporting New Zealand’s research and data community. Our client is looking for Senior and Principal Advisors with a leg and reg policy background to join their team which operates across issues affecting the data system along with some emerging new areas of policy. These roles are fixed term for a minimum of 6 months.

**The role involves**:

- Supporting a government data system that is relevant to, and inclusive of, Iwi-Māori; reflects te ao Māori views; and is designed, collected, and analysed in partnership with Māori in accordance with Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations
- Undertaking required consultation to ensure that relevant stakeholders contribute to policy development, and ensure that any issues that arise as a result of consultation processes are resolved
- Draft speeches and ministerial correspondence ,and prepare responses to ministerial and parliamentary questions that meet quality standards and are produced within agreed timeframes
- Prepare and oversees the preparation of responses to complex Official Information Act requests to ensure compliance with the Act
- Lead, scopes, shapes, plans, and manages complex policy projects that have significant risk factors or high levels of ambiguity
- Advanced system, strategic and critical thinking, clear and logical reasoning and sound judgement to analyse policy issues

**You will have**:

- Ability to write for a variety of audiences and in a variety of contexts
- Strong ability to interpret legislation, regulatory changes, and policy documents
- Ability to think strategically and see the big picture while paying attention to detail and policy implementation issues
- Strong planning, project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, develop partnership relationships on key projects, share ideas and consider diverse perspectives
- International focus would be great but not essential
- Have some experience in data and digital policy
