**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
This role sits within our Policy & Implementation group in the Careers and Investment Design Directorate.
We need a Principal Advisor, Operational Policy to work closely with others and lead projects/initiatives from design to implementation. You will guide and mentor Advisors and Senior Advisors to deliver successfully as a team.
Your mahi will be varied, using your skills and experience in the following areas:

- Working across the business and with other agencies to lead key operational policy work
- Developing and implementing service approaches, funding conditions, and assessment frameworks; and guidelines that support internal and external audiences to understand policies and processes
- Providing advice to the business to navigate ambiguity in funding compliance
- Supporting policy agencies on the drafting of policy and associated advice to Ministers

We need someone who has considerable operational policy experience, knowledge of broader policy frameworks and the machinery of government.
- We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience working at a Principal level
- Awesome collaboration skills, someone who will thrive in a busy and tight knit team
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are a must
- Excellent written skills and experience writing for a range of audiences and technical content
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels
- Ability to identify risks and develop mitigations or action plans
- Skilled at being across multiple initiatives and scanning the horizon for future changes, risks and opportunities
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, and a flexible mindset that embraces change
- Ability to coach and mentor advisors to build capability and achieve great outcomes
- Commitment to building your cultural competencies and deepening your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

The salary range for this position starts from $121,48 up to $142,527+ depending on demonstrable skills and experience
