The Customer Service Officer is a fast-paced, frontline role which is vital to our business. IR does so much more than just collect taxes - we actually fund and deliver programmes which support and care for the people of New Zealand. What's more, a career with us does not necessarily mean a career in numbers and taxes - you’ll be bringing your customer centric approach to improve customer experience.

Day-to-day, your tasks might include responding to customers, coming up with solutions, and calculating options when communicating a plan.

We invest in you from day one - providing a well-mapped out training programme that allows you to understand our tax and social policy products.

Your hours of work will be up to 7 hours 35 minutes per day (75 hours 50 minutes per fortnight), to be worked between 7.25am and 8.30pm Monday to Friday, and between 8.00am and 5.00pm on Saturdays. We have a Rotating Roster which operates 5 weeks in advance.

Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric organisation, IR’s goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work.
