**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate nurse to work alongside experienced senior clinicians in the Diabetes service, running nurse-led clinics for people predominately with Type 1 diabetes. Ideally, you will have some experience with patients on insulin therapies using multi-dose injection regimens and insulin pump therapy. This is a fixed term position covering parental leave for 12 months.

As part of this position, you will be required to provide education to patients and health care professionals both internal and external to the organisation. The position may also require you to be part of the duty nurse and the on call roster providing support to patients within our service. The position can be based at the Waikato Regional Diabetes Service in Hamilton or in Te Kuiti, it will involve some travel to the community clinics.

**Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service**

Waikato’s Regional Diabetes Service is made up of around 60 clinical and non-clinical team members and operates from our Clarence Street clinic in Hamilton. The service includes Adults with Type 1 Diabetes, Adult Weight management services, Diabetes in Pregnancy services, Youth and Young Adult services and an Insulin Pump team in addition to an inpatients team. We have a multi-disciplinary team-providing medical, nursing, podiatry and dietetic support to the patients within our service.

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Registered nurse with current New Zealand practicing certificate and a minimum of 5 years relevant medical clinical experience
- Have completed a minimum of Post Graduate Diploma in relevant area
- Experience in working with patients with Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes
- Experience in working with insulin pump therapy
- A current full drivers licence is essential
