The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will lead through direct and indirect engagement with tāngata whai ora, taiohi and the wider team. You will assess and manage complex cases, contribute to case reviews, and offer clinical input across the region. Many people we walk alongside experience co-existing physical health concerns, and this role ensures their total wellbeing is supported.

You will provide expert nursing leadership, and deliver culturally safe, evidence-based care. You will work collaboratively with clinical teams, GPs, Team Coaches, and kaimahi. You'll also guide and mentor kaimahi to strengthen clinical capability and outcomes.

You will report to a Team coach responsible for the operational management of a mobile service; working alongside a registered nurse and support workers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide clinical input and liaison to ensure optimal care for wāhine at our peer-influenced crisis respite service.
  • Advanced health assessment and clinical decision-making for tangata whai ora and taiohi with complex or co-existing needs.
  • Clinical leadership through direct and indirect engagement with tāngata whai ora, taiohi, and the wider team.
  • Evaluating and adapting care plans, ensuring timely referrals where needed.
  • Applying trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches in all interactions.
  • Ensuring all interactions are respectful, culturally appropriate, and sensitive to individual needs.
  • Participating in the after-hours on-call service to provide clinical and leadership advice to kaimahi.

About You | Mōu

  • Current NZ Registered Nurse with physical and mental health experience
  • Experience in Senior Nursing Role
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Extensive proven clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Ability to provide evidence-based expertise within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
