The Ministry of Social Development has one of the largest Information Technology Groups in the country, providing services to more than one million New Zealanders a week via its service delivery lines. We need passionate people who will help us drive and deliver exciting new technology solutions as we embark on a generational shift in the delivery of digital social services. As well as constant challenges to meet new policy and legislative changes, the Ministry's technology strategy plans significant investment in Digital Experience, Digital Employment and Cloud systems.
As a Technical Product Manager, you will be critical to driving the strategy of several existing technology products and ensure they are sustainable and ready to support our transformation. These products include our Transactional Content Management, Web Content Management and Complaints & Issue Management products.
Working closely with our architecture practice to develop roadmaps, you will lead the delivery teams responsible for executing on your vision.
While this is a fixed term opportunity, the Ministry's Te Pae Tawhiti transformation will provide many opportunities for you to grow and develop with us into future roles.
As a Technical Product Manager, you will
- Work with Heads of Technology and the Enterprise Architects to develop the Technical Product Vision, Strategy and Roadmaps
- Develop business cases for investment in your product
- Ensure asset management plans are in place and technology assets are maintained
- Continuously monitor and adjust road mapping, reprioritising to manage the flow of work
- Be responsible for delivery to the relevant strategies and roadmaps for your products/services, working closely with Technical Product Owners and teams
- Manage the programme technical backlog for your product(s)
- Continuously develop and communicate your Vision to the development teams and define the features of the system

You will have
- Extensive experience as a product & delivery leader
- Core skills in leading and influencing teams, communicating vision and direction
- Relevant technical knowledge, preferably in these product domains
- Experience in leading or influencing teams, communicating vision and direction
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to guide, negotiate and build consensus across multi-disciplinary agile team environments
- It is desirable if you have experience of working with the Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
