**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Risk and Compliance Adviser to join Te Wāhanga Pūtaiao - Faculty of Science supporting work in our laboratories on a part-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months. The role will be responsible for providing support for the Senior Risk and Compliance Adviser including enabling compliance with external and internal regulations, project monitoring, development and review of standard operating procedures, and relevant documentation for academics and professional staff.

Key responsibilities:

- Work with designated University staff and parented organisations to produce and regularly update laboratory operational codes, policy, procedures, records, and training programs.
- Coordinate and conduct site visits and audits of facilities to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and standards.
- Build and maintain close working relationships with the research community.

**Ō pūmanawa - About you**

This role would suit someone with prior experience with laboratory operations. You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and effective time management and forward planning to balance deadlines, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills.

Key requirements:

- Bachelor of Science or higher qualification in a relevant area.
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ideally some experience working with animals.
