**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Principal Adviser, Special Projects, on a full-time, fixed-term basis until October 2025, to join our Tītoko - Centre for Student Success and Te Pūrengi - Student Experience and Wellbeing team. The role will provide leadership, guidance, and strategic advisory services to the Manutaki - Director, Tītoko.

Key responsibilities:

- Maintain effective working relationships on matters related to inform and facilitate leadership of learner success, student experience, and advancing an integrated student support model.
- Providing quality analysis and report writing for projects that advance the University’s student retention and achievement agenda.

This role will suit an experienced professional, who is a highly motivated, positively minded, individual who works well with others, takes the initiative, and provides excellent, high quality strategic advice. A deep understanding of, and passion for, learner success, student experience, and integrated support models within a tertiary education environment will be an advantage. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament.

Key requirements:

- Extensive experience in the tertiary sector, including advising on policy, service delivery, and processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences.
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, robust advice, papers, and reports.
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships internally and externally, across various groups, including at a senior level.
- An eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
