**Ara Whiwhi Mahi | The Opportunity**

As a Tax Counsel (Level 1 or 2) you will be working in a team environment, researching, analysing, and making decisions on complex tax technical issues. You will work across Inland Revenue in a collaborative way to inform and enable quality decision making; and be involved with a range of technical projects including disputes, binding rulings, and public guidance.

This is an intellectually challenging role collaborating with like-minded people who are committed to producing work to a high quality for our customers.

**Mōu | About you**

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

- Be able to carry out tax technical research, interpretation and opinion writing on issues which are often complex and difficult.
- Excellent project and time management skills.
- Background in tax law is essential.
- Qualifications:

- A law degree and eligibility to hold a practising certificate is needed for a Rōia Tāke / Tax Counsel role.
- An applicant with an accounting degree with the right experience would also be considered, but with the alternative title of Tax Specialist / Mātanga Tāke.

Navigating comfortably (or interested in further developing your experience) with Te Ao Māori, Tikanga Māori, and Te Reo Māori would also be beneficial.
