Overview / Purpose of the Position
This role is critical in driving the growth and market penetration of BSI’s training, certification, and verification services across New Zealand. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to identify new business opportunities, foster strong client relationships, and increase our market share across some of the industry sectors we work with including construction, healthcare and finance, retail, and information technology services. This role requires a proactive and results-oriented leader with a proven track record in business development, sales, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with BSI’s growth objectives for New Zealand.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential clients and emerging opportunities for services in areas like sustainability and information/cyber security.
- Proactively seek out and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations to expand our presence in the New Zealand market.
- Cultivate strong relationships with existing key clients, decision-makers, and stakeholders in the region to understand their needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights on industry best practices and supporting them with reaching their own business objectives.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to the business development team, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless integration and alignment of business development efforts with overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop targeted marketing campaigns and promotional activities to drive brand awareness and lead generation.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key industry associations, government agencies, and organizations in New Zealand, especially in the key areas of sustainability and information security.
- Represent the company in events, conferences, and forums to promote our services and thought leadership in the field.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Proven experience in business development and sales, preferably with experience in sustainability services or information security
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in a competitive market environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team toward common goals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborative and a relationship builder at all levels and across industries
