**A unique opportunity to play a leading role in exhibition renewal of New Zealand and Pacific Histories and Cultures at Te Papa.**

Te Papa houses, nurtures and empowers the legacies of New Zealand and its people. Community and collaboration is at the heart of what we do because community is the source and outcome of our work. Our museological practice is led by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and pushes the edges of what we know and what we do. We currently have an exciting for a Head of New Zealand and Pacific Histories and Cultures to provide dynamic and strategic leadership of these disciplines and into redevelopment of level four of the museum

As the Head of New Zealand and Pacific Histories and Cultures, you will:

- Lead the development and delivery of a strategy for New Zealand and Pacific Histories and Cultures which encompasses and prioritises acquisition policy, collection management, research and exhibition programmes at Te Papa
- Lead, develop and empower a high performing curatorial team in ensuring the collections are made as accessible as possible to people and communities throughout new Zealand and beyond
- Build Te Papa's reputation for quality research standards and scholarship, both nationally and internationally
- Identify, develop and utilise stakeholder relationships to advance opportunities that create mutual reputational and business benefits both nationally and internationally

To be successful in this role you will bring:

- Strategic leadership and proven ability to inspire, empower and lead a team to collaboratively develop and implement strategic plans within a comparable sector, either within New Zealand or internationally
- Political savvy, effective negotiation and influencing skill and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a broad range of people
- An exceptional track record of research, publications and exhibitions backed up by an appropriate tertiary qualification
- Extensive national and international networks and an impressive track record of representing an organisation to inspire stakeholder engagement, new funding sources, community engagement and development, professional partnerships and/or collaboration with business leaders

This is a permanent full-time role based in Wellington
