**Who will you be working for?**

This company operates a highly complex manufacturing environment, producing product destined for both local and export markets. Based at their highly complex West Auckland production facility, this is a dynamic and growing operation, offering a forward-thinking Engineer or Technologist considerable technical challenge and breadth of responsibility.

With demand continuing to rise, and ongoing investment in new and improved plant, the company has need of an experienced technical resource to focus on the optimisation and improvement of its production systems and processes as well as ongoing development of great tasting product. This is a hands-on role where you will divide your time between factory-based, development kitchen and administrative functions - ie analyse the situation, and then roll your sleeves up to implement a solution. Reporting to the Operations Manager your role will include:

- Undertaking projects that will increase productivity, improving quality and yield outcomes and reduce waste (be it raw materials, packaging, water or power).
- Optimising the performance of new equipment and processes, developing the SOPs and training staff in its operation.
- Develop new recipes and see them through to commercialisation and beyond.

**Who are we looking for?**

You will be a qualified Food Technologist with experience working in complex food manufacturing / processing environments.

- Excellent project management skills. You take a planned approach, are thorough and methodical.
- A proactive 'thinker’ who is down-to-earth and committed to manufacturing excellence and on-going improvement.
- The ability to foster a sense of ownership and engage and inspire others. People listen to, and follow, you.
- Competency gained in staff training, production analysis and lean manufacturing.
- Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills, high energy levels and a “can-do” attitude.
- Being naturally inquisitive; you’re not afraid to ask questions and get stuck in to find out why and where issues are occurring.
- With no Packaging Technologist on staff, experience and interest in packaging will be a major bonus.
- And most importantly - you have a good dose of common sense and the initiative to use it.
