As a Coordinator Care and Protection, you will be part of a team who is responsible for leading this complex and challenging process. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team as a Care and Protection Coordinator, working with our transitioning our young people to independence. You will be responsible for managing Family Group Conferences in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki Act.
You will work as an integrated part of our community to lead and support Care and Protection Family Group Conferences, engaging with tamariki and rangatahi and their whānau, professionals, and Care and Protection Social Workers. You will make sure we take a unified approach to support tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau, ensuring all decisions are whānau led, and are in the best interest of the tamariki/rangatahi.
This is a challenging role so you will require strong facilitation and mediation skills to ensure all decisions are in the best interest for the young person's safety and protection. You will be working with young people and their families supporting them to transition to independence. This role requires you to have a high level of organisation and a strong attention to details, along with understanding complex family dynamics.

What you will bring | Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu
- Strong Community Networks with an ability to connect well & build strong trusting relationships with Tamariki/Rangatahi, Whānau and Community
- Ability to self-direct and manage own workload with clear communication - including strong report writing skills
- Champion the principles of the Oranga Tamariki Maori Cultural Framework and have a good understanding of section 7(AA) of The Oranga Tamariki Act
- Upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and demonstrating this in practice
- Strong mediation skills
- A valid and clean New Zealand's drivers' licence

Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $73,440.00 and $91,800.00 dependant on experience.
