**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
MBIE’s Digital Policy Team is looking for a switched-on Principal Policy Advisor to help land and deliver the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan (ITP). Our team advises Ministers on digital issues and approaches to grow the digital technology sector to support economic modernisation, productivity, and wellbeing.
Our top priorities are to support the development of the Digital Strategy for Aotearoa with government partners and to co-lead the Digital Technologies ITP with industry. We are looking for someone to help finalise and drive forward the ITP in its entirety, as well as to shape and deliver 1-2 underpinning policy projects to give life to the ITP.
We lead several pieces of work to advance the ITP; supporting export revenue growth by SaaS firms and game development studios, digital skills, Māori participation, government procurement, and the evolution of the NZ Tech Story.
We are located within the Digital Communications and Transformation branch. The ITP is a sector development roadmap, with a longer-term focus, co-designed in partnership with the industry.

We are looking for a motivated Principal Policy Advisor who wants to expand their experience into what is a fast-moving and challenging policy area.
**Ideally you will have**:
- Experience leading complex policy projects within central government
- Wide ranging knowledge of policy development disciplines and processes
- Strong stakeholder relationship building, influencing and engagement skills to gain the cooperation and commitment of others
- Demonstrated capability in working with Ministers, senior public service officials, internal and external stakeholders
- Passion for leading and coaching others to develop their policy craft and take their careers to the next level
- The ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results
