**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
This is a pivotal role for Te Whatu Ora, it will be a critical transformation enabler of the health system in Aotearoa, creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive, and people-centred system. To do this will require excellence in leadership and a sustained shift in mindset and behaviours.
This focus of this role is not only establishing world class leadership opportunities for health leaders but also leading experts in ways to identify and empower our emerging and current leaders.
The primary focus of this role is as follows:
- Develop and implement leadership and talent development strategies in line with Te Whatu Ora's objectives to support retention and development of high-potential kaimahi
- Lead the establishment and ongoing operational aspects of the Te Whatu Ora Leadership Development Institute including managing key partner relationships to ensure optimal quality of delivery
- Work closely with clinical, research and learning design partners to identify leadership development needs and design programmes to enhance required leadership capabilities
- Work in collaboration with senior colleagues to drive synergies and integration with other strategic people programmes and services
- Develop and implement communication plans, that engage people in Te Whatu Ora leadership development solutions
- Implement innovative technology solutions to drive a digital first approach and improved accessibility of resources for leaders across the country
- Evaluate effectiveness and impact using a robust data driven approach aligned to key people metrics
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Extensive background and knowledge of leadership strategies and leadership development approaches including awareness of best practice and innovation in a health context.
- Depth of understanding of the complexity and challenges leaders in the health sector are facing and the ability to influence positive change.
- Experience leading leaders and other senior staff, including building capability and lifting performance of a team/unit and creating a team culture in which people proactively try new approaches, learn, and develop and find ways to continuously improve in their area of expertise.
- Experience developing and implementing effective group/team strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- Senior leadership level experience and responsibility for managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets, forecasting, cost management, organisational risk, and compliance at either a function or business unit level.
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level. Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
