In the role of Team Leader Transport Planning you will experience first-hand the Councils responsibility for the day to day activities that keep our Transport system moving. You'll be working closely with our Greater Christchurch Partners including local authority neighbours, Waka Kotahi NZTA who manage the state highways, and Environment Canterbury who manage public transport services. Our transport network services include;
- Planning for the future transport network
- Operating the transport network all modes
- Maintenance and renewals to roads and footpaths
- Improvements and upgrades of the network
- Deliver the three pillars of safety, access and environment
In this role you will be managing and coordinating the delivery of transport network planning activities** **and leading and coaching a highly technical team of professional engineers and planners. You'll develop and maintain and strong collaborative relationships across Council groups and will also plan the future transport infrastructure programmes to deliver the strategic plans and the Transport Activity Plan. You'll also ensure forecasting the future transport state in line with safety, access, and environment, along with community outcomes.
**About you?**
We are looking for someone who has the essential skills to manage people and communicate with a broad range of disciplines including elected members and the wider community. You'll be a natural team leader with a wealth of experience directing technical experts. Ideally you'll come from local government or have government experience and will be well versed in managing work flow priorities and will be able to deliver high quality results to time and cost. You'll be proven in developing collaborative strong relationships with key partners and other infrastructure agencies. You'll be qualified in your relevant discipline and will ideally be a Chartered professional preferred registered with Engineering New Zealand or other professional organisation.
