Ko wai mātou | About our Company
Crown Infrastructure Delivery (CID), formerly Rau Paenga, is a Crown-owned organisation delivering nationally significant infrastructure for central and local government across Aotearoa. From major recovery programmes to complex current projects, CID brings leadership, clarity, and delivery excellence to the Government's infrastructure priorities. With offices in Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch, we are growing our capability and culture as our portfolio evolves.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role
CID has created a new Strategic Asset Manager role to lead the development of our Asset and Facilities Management (AMFM) function and steward the Te Pae asset on behalf of the Crown. As CID shifts toward providing an AMFM service to the public sector, this role will define the strategy, operating model, and service offerings that will shape how government portfolios are managed for decades to come.
Reporting to the General Manager Policy, Communication, and Government Engagement, this role will lead the AMFM team, establish frameworks and systems, and deliver client-centred asset management services with a strong focus on lifecycle performance, risk management, compliance, and cost optimisation.
You'll design CID's AMFM strategy, lead feasibility work, drive client engagement, and ensure Te Pae is managed effectively through your team and contracted partners. This is a strategic role with a national remit, balancing technical depth, commercial thinking, and relationship leadership.
You'll also:
- Lead the AMFM feasibility study and deliver a clear roadmap for SLT and Board decision-making;
- Build and implement CID's asset management frameworks, service models, and capability;
- Develop business cases, rollout plans, and performance measures to strengthen AM/FM delivery;
- Drive client engagement and business development with central and local government agencies;
- Oversee implementation of AMFM services and integration with project delivery and corporate functions.
Ko koe tēnei | About You
You're an experienced asset management leader with the credibility to influence at governance and executive levels and the capability to build a new service line from the ground up. You bring technical knowledge, strong commercial judgement, strategic management and the ability to foster trust with clients and stakeholders across central and local government.
Your background includes:
- Proven asset management leadership within government or major infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of Crown entity operations, public sector expectations, and NZ's infrastructure landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement asset and facilities management frameworks and service offerings.
- Deep expertise in lifecycle asset planning, optimisation, facilities management, and risk/performance management.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and client advisory, with strong communication and influencing capability.
- Experienced people leader who builds capability, culture, and high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical judgement with the ability to interpret technical, financial, and operational data for decision-making.
You're also a constructive collaborator, comfortable navigating ambiguity, shaping new services, and ensuring AMFM capability is both robust and future focused.
Ā mātou uara | Our Values and Culture
At CID, we keep things simple, do what's right, make things happen, and build enduring relationships. We operate with trust, clarity, and a shared commitment to delivering infrastructure and asset services that will benefit generations of New Zealanders.
