Reporting to the Team Leader Water Asset Management Team, this role will have a significant lasting impact on the City and people of Christchurch both now and in the future. Operating across all areas of the Council via a shared service model, the Asset Engineer - Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) has responsibility for continuously developing the Councils 3 Waters Electrical, Instrumentation & Control systems, including SCADA and maintaining the associated renewals programmes, specifications and standards associated with such assets.
Using your broad knowledge and experience you will support planning, project delivery, asset management and operation and maintenance teams. You will also drive improvements to processes, quality standards and support valuations for reticulation assets.
To succeed in this role you will hold a tertiary qualification in engineering (BEng) or equivalent in discipline, will be computer literate and ideally have some knowledge or experience of InfoNet and other asset management systems. The successful applicant will have:
- Sound and proven experience in automation systems design and programming with a practical and theoretical appreciation and knowledge of industrial networking and protocols and SCADA software
- Providing Analysis and Advice
- Will be familiar with current regulations and associated standards.
- Knowledge and experience with local government and asset management practices would be an advantage.

- Hours of work_ - Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week

- Location_ - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street
Whilst staff working at the Christchurch City Council are not currently required to be vaccinated, applicants need to be aware that should the COVID-19 environment change, roles across the organisation will be assessed, and the requirement to be vaccinated may be reviewed.
