As the owner and operator of New Zealand's electricity transmission grid, we provide a critical service, including seeking to understand how the grid can deliver the cost-effective level of service expected of customers, while accommodating the growing demand for renewable electricity through electrification of industry and transport.

**About the team**

Transpower's Grid Development division works to identify grid needs for the next 30 years. We undertake critical activities to inform investments that ensure the grid is safe, reliable and resilient, and that these investments are integrated with wider system plans.

Our Strategy Performance and Risk group develop our asset management system, including our grid strategies, risk, and resilience information. The team also reports on grid performance, manages asset and system information, and models asset health and criticality.

**The opportunity**

In this new role you'll lead the Resilience and Adaptation team of four in Wellington, and the evolution of risk and resilience information and modelling whilst delivering frameworks that inform and support investment decisions and funding submissions.

You'll improve Transpower's understanding of its vulnerability to Major Hazard events and the impacts of those events and collaboratively work with the researchers and shared understandings.

Annually you'll provide climate related and non-climate related reporting of risk and implement the Transpower adaptation plan.

Ultimately, you'll progress your career and grow as an Asset and Risk Management professional through broadening and deepening your understanding of infrastructure resilience, climate adaptation, and resilience modelling for over $5b of assets that are critical infrastructure for Aotearoa.

**What will you bring?**

You'll utilise your people leadership and influencing skills in this interesting emerging field, along with your understanding/experience in infrastructure resilience, and risk and asset management

Outstanding system thinking and verbal and written communication skills underpinned by a relevant tertiary qualification will enable you to assimilate the Transpower context quickly.

**To be shortlisted your CV, cover letter and career to date will demonstrate**:

- Team leadership in a technical capacity, balancing multiple priorities and communicating effectively with Senior Managers and the Executive team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and build capability through coaching and mentoring.
- Experience in developing and improving asset and risk management processes.
- Skill in using, or supporting teams that use platforms such as PowerBI, Python, and other analytics and data management software.
- Outstanding ability to collaborate and influence both internally and with special interest groups and a variety of regulatory authorities.
