Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.
Here in Waitaha, Canterbury we deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles by ensuring our partnership with Māori are at the forefront of all our conversations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
The role involves calculating various payments in accordance with the Holidays Act and MECA’s, providing training and support to team members, and addressing confidential employee queries empathetically. Effective communication and relationship building with internal and external clients are crucial, as well as cross-functional collaboration to maintain process efficiency. Naturally you will be deadline-driven for accurate data entry and adept at investigating and resolving payment discrepancies. Adaptability is key, and additional responsibilities within the role may be assigned in consultation with the manager.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Previous experience in a payroll or related role. Experience in health or related field would be desirable.
- Microsoft office suite experience and skills, with strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Holidays Act.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Confidentiality and empathy in handling employee queries.
