Te Mahi/About the Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our team at Nurse Maude in Christchurch. This full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, plays a key part in supporting the Payroll Manager to ensure the accurate and timely processing of wages and salaries for approximately 1300 employees fortnightly across multiple collective contracts with complexity.

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll using PayGlobal, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of staff in compliance with all relevant legislation and organisational policies. This role includes maintaining employee records, supporting external reporting obligations (including to IRD, WINZ, and ACC), and contributing to the continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes. You will also provide guidance to team members and play a key role in payroll-related projects, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, compliant, and efficient payroll function.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following attributes:

- Extensive end-to-end payroll processing experience for 500+ employees
- A strong working knowledge of the Holidays Act and relevant employment legislation
- Previous experience using PayGlobal (preferred)
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong Excel and data reconciliation skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- A team-oriented, supportive approach with a friendly and professional manner
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural responsiveness
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand
