We are looking for an experienced people manager with an understanding of student support services or wider university ways of working to join us as our **Student Support & Engagement Manager** for our Science Faculty on a **full-time**, permanent basis, **37.5 hours** per week**.**

This is a great opportunity for a confident and organised people manager to lead our Student Support & Engagement Team. We work to support our students throughout their university journey.

**Responsibilities of the role include**:

- Managing the operations of your established team and working on core improvement projects in partnership with other Team Leaders/Managers.
- Developing and driving strategies for best-in-class pastoral care, peer mentoring and wellbeing initiatives for all students.
- Provide direction and leadership for the development of student services to assist with academic progress, integration and overall retention and success of students.
- Engage in activities, projects and initiatives that promote student engagement and support equity.
- Champion, lead and manage the activation of the University’s Te Ao Māori Principles, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga within the student support and engagement function
- Develop new initiatives to improve the student experience.
- Work closely with other student support teams across the University, such as our Campus Life team and other student wellbeing focused roles within the Faculty to provide and leverage the best integrated experience for students whilst at the University.

Our salary range is between **$92,000 - $110,000** based on experience and qualifications. There is some flexibility on what we can offer, but our final offer is likely to be within this range.

**E rapua ana mātou | We are seeking**
- Experience of working within a service centre or customer service focused team, as a leader.
- Proven leadership and management experience in a large complex organisation.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in team building, change management and working cooperatively.
- Experience of managing a team through organisational change processes, as you will be joining a division that has been through a recent restructure, which is still settling into the new normal.
- Experience and understanding of equity issues in New Zealand especially with relation to Māori and Pacific students.
