**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Student Support Adviser to join our Student Wellbeing and Care team, with a dedicated focus on supporting rainbow, takatāpui and MVPFAFF+ students at Waipapa Taumata Rau.

This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our rainbow students by helping them navigate challenges, celebrate their identities, and thrive at university. You’ll work directly with students and rainbow communities to provide one-on-one support, develop support plans, connect them with services, and help them build a strong sense of belonging and visibility on campus.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing inclusive, identity-affirming support to rainbow students and student groups
- Maintaining a visible and trusted presence across both physical and digital spaces
- Helping students access a range of wellbeing and engagement services
- Contributing to equity, retention and success initiatives with a rainbow lens
- Recording and tracking support interactions in our student support system

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), 12-month **fixed term** position based at our city campus.
**Remuneration**: $62,400 - $77,800 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**

You’ll be working alongside a team of committed professionals, including other specialist advisers and support services, in an environment that embraces inclusivity, collaboration, and Te Tiriti-led practice.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You’ll bring lived and/or professional experience within rainbow communities and an understanding of the diverse realities, challenges, and strengths that rainbow students bring with them to university.

You will also have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years' experience working directly with rainbow people or communities
- A compassionate, student-centred approach and strong active listening skills
- Experience supporting people experiencing distress or navigating complex systems
- The ability to build trust and relationships across diverse communities
- Familiarity with the tertiary education environment or similar settings is an advantage
