Auckland Council is seeking for an experienced leader with a passion for operational excellence and animal welfare. We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Team Leader to join our Licensing and**Compliance Department, where you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our Animal Shelter facility.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll work closely with a passionate team, contribute to cross-unit initiatives, and help shape the future of animal services in our community.

**He kōrero mōu: About You**

You are a confident and capable leader with a minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership or management role—ideally within a similar environment such as a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or local government setting.

Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:

- Working knowledge of digital systems and office processes.
- Familiarity with key legislation including the Dog Control Act, Privacy Act, and relevant bylaws.
- Proven ability to lead a high-performing, diverse team in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate difficult situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Comfortable working in an environment where interaction with animals may occur.
