Senior Advisor - Family Violence Prevention for Ethnic Communities

We are building a team to deliver a new family violence prevention initiative for ethnic communities in Aotearoa. The initiative is focused on community mobilisation and action that strengthens families and communities, and builds sustainable, intergenerational wellbeing that prevents violence.
We have multiple roles based in either Wellington or Auckland. These roles are for a fixed-term of two years with the possibility of an extension.
About the role / Te āhuatunga a te tūranga
We are seeking three experienced Senior Advisors to help implement this new initiative in partnership with communities. The roles will involve a range of tasks focused on engaging with key community and sector stakeholders, developing the supporting foundations for the initiative, implementing the initiative in partnership with communities, and associated planning and reporting.

We are looking for a broad set of skills within these roles. Key functions include:

- Building successful community relationships and working collaboratively to co-design solutions
- Influencing and working with others internally and externally to support and implement initiatives
- Providing high quality analysis, advice and reports for key internal and external stakeholders
- Advising senior management and providing high-level support
- Building strong community relationships throughout New Zealand

About you

**To be successful in the role, you will have**:

- Experience and / or knowledge of family violence and / or violence against women and girls related issues within ethnic communities
- Specific knowledge of issues facing ethnic communities within Aotearoa
- Experience of working with ethnic communities in Aotearoa
- Knowledge, skills and experience in community development
- Strong writing skills
- A demonstrated ability of working collaboratively
- And be able to deliver and work to deadlines

Experience of community mobilisation and prevention within the context of family violence in ethnic communities would also be advantageous, as well as knowledge of the machinery of government.
You will need excellent relationship management skills and the ability to translate community issues into co-designed solutions that can be understood by multiple audiences, including communities and Ministers.
Team members will also need to build relationships with the NGO sector, key government stakeholders and internal ministry staff.
It is important that you are able to communicate effectively to a range of different audiences (orally and in writing) and to work collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes, both internally and externally.
To ensure the effectiveness of this role, travel will be required.

Position Description

**Salary range**: $95,546.00 - $116,778.00
