Principal Analyst Fire and Emergency Taskforce Ministerial, Monitoring & Capability Group Toi Hiranga ' Regulation & Policy Branch

Te Tari Taiwhenua | the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) has Crown entity monitoring, policy, legislation, and funding responsibilities relating to Fire and Emergency New Zealand (a Crown entity).
A demanding, multidisciplinary work programme is required over the next two years to strengthen the monitoring oversight of Fire and Emergency New Zealand, establish and implement the actions from the Te Kawa Mataaho Review into Fire and Emergency's culture and complaints handling processes, and support Fire and Emergency with an ambitious capital programme. A taskforce has been established to bring together the different components into a single and connected programme of work.
This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced all-rounder who is looking to be part of a small team, where they can demonstrate their versatility and thrives in a fast-moving and complex environment.

**To be successful in this role, you will be**:

- experienced in government processes, with familiarity advising across policy, monitoring, budget, and legislative matters;
- a well organised self-starter who sets goals and finishes tasks;
- excellent in managing relationships;
- great at communicating for different audiences and writing clearly;
- basing your advice on research, analysis, and evidence;
- able to see both the big picture and translate this to the details; and
- comfortable in operating in an ambiguous and complex environment.
