**Tenei turanga - About the Role**:
The Principal Intelligence Analyst is an analytical and technical expert for MBIE Intelligence and Country Research (MICR). As such you will be responsible for providing valuable insights on the impacts of single or cross-cutting MBIE business areas, identifying risks and opportunities, both now and in the future.

In this technical leadership role, you will work in partnership with your team and wider MICR functions, key MBIE and external customers, and external/international intelligence agencies to build relationships and long-term customer engagement. You will develop robust knowledge and information sharing systems and processes between stakeholders on immigration related matters. You will ensure that intelligence products are shaped and presented to provide maximum value to our customers to support decision making processes.

As a mentor for Intelligence Analysts and Senior Intelligence Analysts and Researchers, you will use your broad knowledge and experience to work through complex, ambiguous, and/or sensitive intelligence problem sets, helping to set the tone for standards and professionalism.

The Principal Intelligence Analyst will develop training in conjunction with Intelligence, Practice, and Professional Development, delivering this training as required with excellent presentation skills. You will be expected to provide specialist strategic advice to the Intelligence Leadership team and the wider Data, Insights, and Intelligence Leadership team, supporting the strategic direction of the group and MBIE.
- About the Team

This Principal Intelligence Analyst position will be placed in the National Security Intelligence workstream. The National Security Intelligence workstream is responsible for providing advice and coordination support to MBIE's National Security and Intelligence functions. The team also provides Intelligence support to MBIE's responsibilities for the Immigration regulatory system to ensure that individuals who enter New Zealand are of good character and do not pose a threat to New Zealand's national security.

The National Security Intelligence workstream is responsible for a variety of information and intelligence coordination across MBIE Intelligence and Country Research, MBIE functions, external partners and stakeholders and the New Zealand Intelligence community. The Principal Intelligence Analyst will be expected to provide excellent relationship building and maintenance skills, technical expertise and support, mentoring, and coaching across a wide breadth of workstreams on both the low and high side and will not be limited to National Security only work.

**Skills and Experience Required**

It is essential that you have the following:

- 2+ years Intelligence Analyst experience at a senior level within a government agency.
- Have existing and established relationships across the NZIC.
- Experience in setting up systems and processes for Intelligence.
- Experience handling sensitive or classified information.
- Clear concise communication skills
