Auckland Council’s Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office has an opportunity for a Community Recovery Specialist to join the Community and Social Recovery team.
As part of a regional team, this role will focus on supporting Māngere’s recovery and resilience journey. You’ll be at the heart of community-led recovery, building trusted relationships and ensuring council responses are trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive.
You could expect to work on:
- Support a rōpū of community leaders to co-design and deliver a participatory funding process that backs grassroots recovery actions.
- Work alongside iwi, marae, hapū, and community groups to strengthen partnerships grounded in trust, respect, and shared purpose.
- Help communities organise, mobilise, and take coordinated action that reflects their strengths, aspirations, and lived experiences.
- Create spaces where diverse voices are heard and valued, and where communities influence decisions that shape their futures.
- Identifying and bridging the gap between council, agencies and community groups to align support with what communities truly need.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
Are you a connector, a collaborator, and a champion for community voice? Do you thrive in spaces where people come together to create change? We’re looking for someone just like you to help drive a bold, inclusive, and locally-led recovery journey.
You have proven experience working with multi-faith, multi-cultural, Māori and Pasifika communities as well as.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage projects and oversee grant funding agreements.
- Familiarity with local government and community development contexts.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
