**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We are looking for an experienced Principal Planner to join our Land Use Policy and Planning team as a specialist lead, leading our involvement in complex and exciting transport and land use integration workstreams and providing support and guidance to our young planners.
The team is currently working with partners such as Kāinga Ora and Crown agencies to support brownfield redevelopment. We are actively working with developers to ensure Auckland Transport's aspirations for land use and transport integration can be delivered in greenfield development areas. In addition, the team is supporting Auckland Council to respond to the National Policy Station on Urban Development and what that means for Auckland. These projects are just a snapshot of some of the work the team is involved in.
**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
We are looking for an experienced principal planner who is dynamic, has great communication and collaboration skills, shows initiative and will take responsibility for identifying opportunities and delivering results.
- Working experience in strategy, policy and planning in land use, transport, and/or resource management planning, supported by a qualification in Planning or related discipline
- An excellent understanding and working knowledge of New Zealand's planning system, transport land use integration principles, urban planning policies, growth and development planning and key implementation considerations and mechanisms
- Experience with key legislation, such as the Resource Management Act, National Direction
- Expert experience in engaging, partnering and communicating with a range of stakeholders and a strong focus on customer service and collaboration
