Have strong commercial acumen and ability to lead and provide advice on a range of commercial matters including:

- the commercial and strategic feasibility of projects;
- the contract negotiation of financial tools and exposure and conditions in agreements between parties:

- the commercial and strategic risks within development projects and agreements.
- Be responsible for understanding, assessing, and mitigating the commercial and legislative risks associated with the development, acquisition and underwriting of new housing in the Build Ready Development pathway.
- Build and manage relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders at governance, management and operational levels and support wider team members in complex interactions
- Maintain strong relationships representatives with across the system, the Ministry and Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities.
- Support the delivery of team's work programme and pipeline, mitigating delays and removing blockages. Work produced by the team is of a high standard, has oversight by you and progresses to approval.
- Have the ability to manoeuvre comfortably through complex processes, government processes and requirements to achieve the desired commercial outcomes for complex, sensitive or risky programme deliverables. This could include an understanding of property law, the Housing Act and other relevant legislation, and legal vocabulary.

The salary range for this role is $137,500 - $168,000 +3% Kiwisaver contribution. To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven high-performance commercial experience, and an understanding of this within the public service context on financial and commercial of at least 5 years
- Sound business acumen, with proven experience developing and delivering plans and processes that are aligned to organisational priorities, and driving change
- A proven ability to help create a safe, positive, and thriving workplace environment
- Sound knowledge of government and public sector processes
- A track record of making quality decisions within your area of responsibility
- A proven ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, navigate issues and solve problems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and leverage relationships and partner with colleagues and others across the public and private sectors to achieve shared outcomes
- A law degree or have taken an active part in a legal team is desirable
