**Babcock New Zealand **is looking for 2 x **Sub-Contract Managers **to join our Construction/ Fabrication & Painting team based on the** **_Devonport Naval Base._**

**About the role**

An exciting opportunity has arisen based in Devonport on the Navy Dockyard to fulfil and embed a new Sub-Contract Manager role. These roles report to one of four Production Managers and they will play a critical role in planning, enabling and safely delivering production. The roles provide a great opportunity to self-develop, gain experience and progress into roles within the business.

These are newly formed positions to meet the customer’s (NZ Defence Force) demand schedule, budget and quality expectations, with key responsibilities for the following:

- **Programme support**:Manage Control of Work documents in line with the project schedule and pro-actively support project and production teams.
- **Team Engagement**:Manage own performance alongside your team. Support and encourage your team members through your behaviour and actions.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Identify, develop and implement improvement opportunities within the team.
- **Health Safety & Environment**: Planning production activities with HSE considered. Lead by example and support the production teams to deliver activities safely.

**Key responsibilities**
- Responsible for subcontractor management across the delivery programme. To include confirming scope, HSE compliance, delivery to schedule and budget, quality control throughout and close out requirements.
- Responsible for communication, coordination and resolution of issues that could affect being able to deliver.
- Responsible for planning and executing variations to the contracted scope.
- Provide expertise and verification of project scope to ensure accurate resources and materials are available.
- Awareness of the wider programme deliverable and contribute to its successful delivery.
- Ensure JSEAs have been considered for complex or high risk activities.
- Excel in demonstrating leadership qualities across the wider organisation.
- Proactively build positive relationships with key contractors within the supply chain.
- Identify, develop and lead improvement opportunities.
- Participate in ‘Learning from Experience’ sessions, identify actions and carry out improvements.
- Encourage the development of change management competencies within the team.

**About you**

You have a relevant qualification in one of the above Trade Specialisations. You are an effective communicator to a range of stakeholders, excellent at working collaborative and actively seek to overcome challenges. You are proven in the use of MS Office and other IT software.

If you have worked in a marine environment previously, this would be highly advantageous but not essential.
