About Our Team
Our Intellectually Disabled Persons Health Service is a specialist mental health service that provides care for adults with intellectual disabilities and a wide range of mental health concerns. We operate across both inpatient and outpatient settings, including a small number of specialist beds, as well as individuals accommodated in other units such as the forensic mental health unit. Our service is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their whānau.
About the Role: As a Senior Medical Officer (SMO), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mental health and intellectual disability assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals with diverse needs. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique requirements. This is a Full Time position, commencing as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric and risk assessments to inform treatment planning and interventions.
- Collaborate closely with allied health professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews to optimise patient outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, protocols, and clinical guidelines relevant to intellectual disability mental health services.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills in the field of intellectual disability mental health.
