About the Role

The Regional Lead Mental Health and Addiction is a key leadership position in our Central Region team, responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance to local and regional mental health and addiction clinical and operational leaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health and addiction, with at least 10 years of experience working in the New Zealand public health system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the mental health and addiction sector in the Central Region
  • Motivate and inspire local and regional mental health and addiction clinical and operational leaders
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care, meeting performance targets and objectives
  • Build a high-performing mental health and addictions system that delivers improved outcomes for patients

This role forms part of our Central Region Deputy Chief Executive Leadership team, contributing to the development of Health New Zealand's future direction and strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with the National Clinical Lead Mental Health and Addiction to ensure the effectiveness and appropriateness of clinical and non-clinical services provided by the mental health and addiction workforce.

About You

We are looking for an experienced leader in mental health and addiction, who has a strong understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading improvement in service delivery and developing strong relationships and networks across the region.
