About the Opportunity

The Canterbury District Health Board invites applications for a Young People's Psychiatric Assessment Professional to join our Child, Adolescent and Family Access Team. This permanent full-time (40 hours a week) position offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and their families.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and interventions for young people in psychiatric crisis, as well as brief case management if required.
  • Work closely with colleagues from various backgrounds and disciplines to achieve better health outcomes in our community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies to ensure seamless referral processes.

About the Team

You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team based at Hillmorton Hospital. We value diversity and inclusion, and you will have opportunities to contribute to delivering excellent healthcare to the people of New Zealand.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in mental health, with knowledge of general mental health assessment or risk.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, and other agencies.
  • Current NZ driver's license, as some travel is required for this position.
  • Registration with the Social Work Registration Board.
