Crisis Intervention Specialist

About the Role
The Canterbury District Health Board seeks a highly skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our Child, Adolescent and Family Access Team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in providing emergency response services for young people experiencing psychiatric crises.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Phone triage of young people in crisis, working collaboratively with family/whanau and external agencies.
- Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and interventions for young people in psychiatric crisis, as well as brief case management if required.
- Triage of routine referrals into our CAF services, ensuring timely and effective support for young people and their families.
- Working closely with colleagues from various backgrounds and disciplines to achieve better health outcomes in our community.
About You
We are looking for a dedicated professional with:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in mental health, with knowledge of general mental health assessment or risk.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, and other agencies.
- Experience working within a Child and Adolescent setting and understanding of child and adolescent development.
- A current NZ driver's license, as some travel is required for this position.
- Registration with the Social Work Registration Board.
