About the Role

New Zealand Red Cross is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our Gifts and Legacy Programme, driving strategic growth in major gifts and legacy fundraising. As Senior Philanthropy Development Manager, you will cultivate meaningful relationships with high-net-worth donors and legacy pledgers, ensuring sustainable funding for humanitarian work across Aotearoa and beyond.

You will develop and execute strategies to grow major gifts and legacy income, build relationships with philanthropists and legacy donors, and lead a high-performing fundraising team. Your expertise will ensure exceptional supporter experiences, enhance long-term commitment, and integrate fundraising efforts with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase major gifts and legacy income
  • Cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals and legacy donors
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing fundraising team, setting clear objectives and driving results
  • Oversee donor stewardship, ensuring exceptional supporter experiences
  • Collaborate across teams to integrate fundraising efforts with organisational goals

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading and growing major gifts and legacy fundraising programmes
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with ability to engage and inspire donors
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with ability to mentor and develop fundraising professionals
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbal, with polished presentation skills and attention to detail
  • Strategic thinking and ability to identify new opportunities for growth
