About the Role

This Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement Officer position sits within the Infrastructure and Assets Group at the Hamilton City Council. The role focuses on delivering resilient infrastructure and services that enrich lives today and ensure a thriving future for our community.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Proactive and responsive inspections of non-compliance and breaches of consent conditions, Bylaws, management plans, and other relevant legislative requirements.
  • Working with the business to understand and address compliance obligations.
  • Issuing enforcement notices and taking action to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve compliance matters.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating the status of investigations.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of three waters compliance strategies and policies.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • New Zealand degree of Science or Engineering or equivalent.
  • Current and clean NZ Drivers Licence.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a regulatory compliance or other closely allied field of work.
  • Knowledge with the Resource Management Act (RMA).
  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, and storm water processes.
  • Comprehensive investigative and reporting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
