Job Overview

The Hamilton City Council is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Business Lead to provide high-level advice and support across various functions. Reporting directly to the Group Business Manager, this role offers an exceptional opportunity for someone to make a significant contribution to the organisation's future.

This is a one-year fixed-term position to cover maternity leave. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support to your team, optimising the performance and productivity of the administration team, and actively supporting and developing positive relationships within the Regulatory Services Unit and City Safe and Resilience Unit.

  • Provide proactive financial support to Unit Managers to build financial acumen, understand monthly variances, and ensure forecasts are updated.
  • Liaise with various business units across council to ensure the effective delivery of organisational business priorities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Annual and Long-Term Plan on behalf of the Units.

In order to be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Chartered accountant or relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting.
  • Experience with systems or implementation, as you will be supporting some key digital projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with an emphasis on strategic business decision-making.
  • An understanding and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Proven Leadership experience and well-developed communication skills, including report writing capability.
