Sustainability and Compliance Officer

As an Environmental Technician at WM New Zealand, you'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to sustainable waste management practices. Your responsibilities will include conducting environmental monitoring tasks, such as field sampling, testing, and waste load analysis, to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a safe working environment.

You'll work closely with our operations team to achieve our mission of creating a cleaner, greener future. In addition to your technical expertise, you'll need strong communication, organizational skills, and physical fitness for fieldwork.

Main Responsibilities
  • Field sampling, testing, and waste load analysis per monitoring plans and consent conditions.
  • Managing sample dispatches to external laboratories and assessing test results for compliance.
  • Entering data into the site database and preparing reports on environmental data.
  • Calibrating and maintaining testing equipment and updating procedures for compliance.
Qualifications and Experience

A degree in Applied Sciences or a related field is necessary, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. You should also possess strong communication, organizational skills, and physical fitness for fieldwork.

Additionally, you should have experience in:

  • Conducting field sampling and testing.
  • Driving a 4WD vehicle safely.
  • Sample dispatch and test result management.
  • Equipment maintenance and report preparation.
