Role Overview

The 24x7 Data Centre Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and operation of data centre equipment and infrastructure. This includes installing customer equipment, cables, and cabling infrastructure, as well as providing first-level support and hands-and-eyes services to our Data Centre customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and contribute to the Data Centre training programme
  • Support the Data Centre Team with Batch Services: Operating batch processes, monitoring alerts, and escalating issues
  • Provide first-level support and hands-and-eyes services to our Data Centre customers
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to
  • Provide consistent and excellent management of data centre assets
  • Delivery of customer-facing activities and fostering customer relationships
  • Installation and/or management of Data Centre infrastructure including power systems, IT, and telecommunications equipment, cabling, and server racks
  • Ensure adherence to existing and new standards relating to customer change
  • Data Centre incident management
  • Ensuring all Datacom security objectives are strictly adhered to

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern (day and night shift)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence to work alone and in a small team
  • Able to troubleshoot customer and technical issues
  • Able to remain calm under pressure
  • Comfortable to work at heights (up to 4m)
  • Able to complete repeatable processes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft application suite
