Spectrum Care is seeking a qualified and compassionate Community Support Worker to join our team in Upper Hutt. This is a 32-hour per week position, working a mix of day, evening, night, and split shifts.
About the Position
As a Community Support Worker, you will work closely with three young adults who have physical support needs, providing intimate care and supporting them to live their best lives. You will need to be fit enough to push a wheelchair and willing to get in the swimming pool to enjoy some fun water play.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intimate care and support to the flatmates, including assistance with toileting and showering
- Work collaboratively with the flatmates and their families to create daily, weekly, and yearly personal goal plans
- Support the flatmates to participate in activities that bring them joy and promote independence
- Be adaptable and patient when communicating with the flatmates, who use a variety of communication methods
- Ensure the physical health and emotional comfort of the flatmates at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting disabled individuals
- Reliable, respectful, and intuitive approach to care
- Ability to support current abilities and teach new ones
- Basic computer skills, including email and internet searching
- Full driver's license preferred
