Metabolic Screening Programme Specialist Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at LabPLUS in Auckland, New Zealand.

The successful candidate will work closely with the current Scientific Officer in the Newborn Screening section (NBS) of the Specialist Chemical Pathology department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Routine running and troubleshooting of screening assays, including in-house developed expanded screening assays.
  • Development of new assays, training and mentoring of staff, and interpreting and reporting of results.
  • Liaising with clinical staff and ensuring National Screening Unit (NSU) quality requirements and external accreditation requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational, computer and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
