About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate conservation professional to lead and coach a small team of Treaty Implementation and Community Rangers in the Tāmaki Makaurau region. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and whakapapa, as well as proven leadership abilities and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coach a small team of staff to deliver key conservation work across the region
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure priority work is delivered
  • Work collaboratively with whānau, hapū, and iwi to understand their aspirations and needs in relation to conservation work
  • Ensure the delivery of statutory work in the region, including permission applications and other obligations
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and whakapapa
  • Proven leadership abilities and commitment to excellence
  • Experience in engaging effectively in a Te Ao Māori setting or willingness to develop capability in this area
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in cloud-based computing
  • Strong critical thinking and analysis skills, with ability to navigate differing perspectives
  • Full New Zealand driver licence, including manual vehicle
