We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team as a Park Heritage and Maintenance Specialist.

This role involves leading the maintenance and preservation of historic and visitor sites, structures, and equipment. You will be responsible for participating in health and safety culture, regional heritage and visitor work, and implementing monthly work plans.

This position requires someone who is passionate about conservation and has experience working in a fast-paced outdoor environment. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to live and work in one of New Zealand's stunning national parks, enjoying breathtaking scenery while protecting important heritage sites.

**Responsibilities include:**

  1. Leading field-based operations and managing teams in the maintenance and preservation of historic and visitor sites.
  2. Contributing to the development and implementation of safety plans and participating in health and safety culture.
  3. Maintaining conservation campsites, picnic areas, toilets, and water supplies.
  4. Constructing and maintaining tracks and structures to standard.
  5. Operating and overseeing the use and maintenance of chainsaws, scrub-bars, backpack sprayers, diggers, and other minor earthwork machinery.

**Requirements:**

  • A strong practical approach to problems with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A full New Zealand driver license class 1 and chainsaw competency at the minimum level of NZQA 17766.
  • Proven building and construction skills, computer literacy, and technology savvy.
