We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our close-knit Heritage and Visitors team based in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the maintenance and preservation of historic and visitor sites, structures, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead field-based operations to maintain and preserve heritage sites, structures, and equipment
- Participate in the health and safety culture of the field team through joint site assessments and toolbox talks
- Contribute to regional heritage and visitor work as required
- Maintain conservation campsites, picnic areas, toilets, and water supplies
- Main roads and huts
- Construct and maintain tracks and structures to standard
- Operate and oversee the use and maintenance of chainsaws, scrub bars, backpack sprayers, diggers, and other minor earthwork machinery
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Practical field skills and physical fitness to undertake a physically demanding job
- Chainsaw competency and experience at the minimum level of NZQA 17766
- Proven building and construction skills
- Computer and technology savvy
