Job Summary

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, where you will work as part of a close-knit team to manage the maintenance and preservation of historic and visitor sites, structures, and equipment.

About You

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, who is able to work effectively as part of a team. You should have practical field skills and be physically fit to undertake a physically demanding job. Experience with chainsaws and building and construction skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and preservation of historic and visitor sites, structures, and equipment
  • Participation in the health and safety culture of the field team through joint site assessments and toolbox talks
  • Contributions to regional heritage and visitor work as required
  • Maintenance of conservation campsites, picnic areas, toilets, and water supplies
  • Main road maintenance and hut management
  • Construction and maintenance of tracks and structures to standard
  • Operation and oversight of chainsaws, scrub bars, backpack sprayers, diggers, and other minor earthwork machinery
