About the Role:

You will lead a team of policy professionals in developing and implementing strategic policies across various legislative reforms, including Crown land management and regulatory frameworks. Your expertise in large-scale policy changes, system engagement, and partnering with Māori communities will be instrumental in driving our ambitious programme forward.

This is a key leadership role within our Strategy, Policy and Ministerial function, responsible for supporting our strategic direction and delivering on our policy work programme. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Strategy, Policy and Ministerials and other policy managers to achieve our objectives.

Our organisation plays a vital role in understanding, developing, and caring for New Zealand's land, sea, and waterways. Your contribution can make a significant impact on our country's development, ensuring that it balances environmental, social, cultural, and economic considerations.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the people and work across your areas of responsibility, aligning priorities and deliverables with our Kaupapa and work programme.
  • Partner across the organisation and collaborate with agencies and ministers to understand current and future work and allocate resources effectively.
  • Maintain active and effective relationships with stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation and broader public service, relating to your area of responsibility.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated policy manager who has demonstrated skills across large-scale legislative reforms, system engagement, and partnering with Māori communities. You will have a strong track record of leading high-performing teams, driving results-focused policy work, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
