Job Overview

As a key player in our Corporate HSEQ team, you will provide expert support to the Divisional Partner, ensuring our Lower North Island operations meet and exceed national and local compliance requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • HSEQ Policy Development: Implement and maintain HSEQ policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure compliance and best practices across all sites.
  • Audit and Risk Management: Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Training and Guidance: Deliver training and provide expert guidance to all employees, championing a culture of safety and responsibility.
  • Investigation and Improvement: Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, providing actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor HSEQ performance, prepare insightful reports, and drive data-backed decisions with leadership.
Requirements
  • A Tertiary Qualification (Degree or above) in H&S or Environmental Science.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar HSE role (preferably within the waste management or related industry).
  • A strong background in risk management and the ability to manage change effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE, ACC, and HSNO legislation and standards.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills — able to engage and influence at all levels.
  • A keen eye for detail with excellent analytical, conceptual, and research skills.
  • Great time management and the ability to self-manage in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
